Sideshow Collectibles Kicks Off Line of DC Statues with The Joker Premium Format Figure

Sometimes dreams do come true.

For over 10 years, DC Comics has produced statues, action figures and busts through their own company, DC Direct.  They’ve made some really cool stuff, but lately, they haven’t really been able to compete with the “wow-factor” of a company like Sideshow Collectibles.  So when Sideshow recently announced that they would be producing collectibles based on DC Comics characters, I was one of the many people cheering.

The first DC Comics collectible from Sideshow is The Joker Premium Format Figure.  What is a Premium Format Figure, you ask? Generally, it’s a highly detailed statue standing approximately 24 inches tall (1:4 scale) and featuring mixed media (cloth, polystone, metal).  In layman’s terms, it’s a very cool museum piece…as in “the quality is so high that it could be in a museum). Each piece is hand-painted and individually numbered.

The Joker Premium Format Figure looks simply outstanding.  I haven’t had a chance to see it first hand yet, but I’ve spoken with many people who have seen it and they can’t stop raving about it. If you’re a Batman fan, this looks to be the definitive comic book version of the Joker. Sideshow hasn’t announced an edition size yet, but this is a limited edition Batman collectible. And if past sales have any bearing, the Joker Premium Format Figure is likely to increase in value on the secondary market in the years to come.

Whether you’re a fan of the Joker, Batman or high quality DC Comics collectibles. you can’t go wrong adding this Premium Format DC Statue to your collection.

A Star Wars Bounty Hunter Stands Revealed

Ever since Sideshow Collectibles acquired the license to produce 12 inch Star Wars figures, fans have been clamoring for a Boba Fett 12 inch figure.  Starting today, this sought-after Star Wars collectible is now available to order.

Boba Fett first appeared in cartoon form in the truly awful Star Wars Holiday Special, before making his big-screen debut in The Empire Strikes Back. The character was instantly embraced by fans. Boba Fett is also featured in Return of the Jedi, where he meets a less than stellar demise in the Sarlac Pitt on Tatooine.

Sideshow’s Boba Fett 12 Inch Figure is the most authentic and articulated Boba Fett that we’ve ever seen.  The craftsmen at Sideshow have nailed every aspect of this figure: from the helmet, to the outfit, the weapons and the wickedly cool display base modeled after the Bespin Carbon Freeze Chamber.

This is a limited edition Star Wars collectible, so if you snooze, you lose.  We have no doubt that this figure will be sold out before it’s released early in 2012, so we urge you to order yours today.

You’ve Never Seen a Darth Maul Statue Like This Before

Darth Maul. Sith Lord, killer of Qui Gon Jin, and one of the fan favorites of the Star Wars universe.

Despite only being onscreen for a few minutes in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Darth  Maul has proven to be a very popular character.  So popular, that he was brought back from the dead in Star Wars: Visionaries, a comic book collection written and illustrated by members of the Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith art department at Industrial Light and Magic. In the story, “Old Wounds,” Darth Maul has survived his deadly defeat at the hands of Obi Wan Kenobi and has replaced the lower half of his body with cybernetic implants. Darth Maul battles Obi Wan again on the sands of Tatooine, only to finally meet his end thanks to a blaster bolt to the head by Owen Lars, (Luke’s Uncle Owen).

That version of Darth Maul can now be part of your Star Wars collection with the Darth Maul with Mechanical Legs Premium Format Figure.

This unique Star Wars collectible is hand-crafted and features a real fabric costume. It stands an impressive 24.5 inches tall and is limited to just 1250 pieces worldwide.
